AZTEC prepared the final design plans, specifications and quantities for this large CMAR project. The project consisted of over four-miles of roadway improvements to Higley Road, Williams Field Road and Recker Road in Gilbert, Arizona. Given the various railroad crossings, utilities and drainage requirements, the project required significant coordination with the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), the Arizona Corporate Commission and other stakeholders. In addition, the project was coordinated with the master planned Cooley Station Development that included on-street parking and a regional retention basin system. Significant utility relocations included SRP 69kV under-grounding and the relocation of Roosevelt Water Conservation District (RWCD) facilities. AZTEC’s responsibilities included the design of new water, reclaimed water and sewer facilities for the entire length of the project; onsite drainage design; signing, marking and lighting plans; right-of-way delineation; preparation of documents for right-of-way and easement acquisitions; geotechnical investigations and pavement design; landscaping and landscape irrigation plans; and assistance with public information meetings. AZTEC worked closely with the Town of Gilbert to meet the technical challenges of the project including the aggressive one-year design schedule.
