Consider joining us as a Mid-to-Senior Environmental Planner/Scientist based in out Irvine, CA office. The intent of this position will be to manage and prepare CEQA and NEPA documents for a variety of projects including but not limited to transportation, railway, energy, and utility-related projects in California. Environmental Services Division Leader – AZ/AVP- Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Environmental Services Division Leader – AZ/AVPs for our Phoenix, Arizona office. The role will be a key position within our company. This position is paramount to support AZTEC’s continued success to provide professional and quality services to established and new clientele. The markets our Environmental Practice focuses on are: Transportation, Rail/Transit, Water, and/or Utility/Energy sectors. While this position is focused on Arizona, some overlap into other geographic areas may occur where AZTEC is pursuing and/or delivering projects. The ideal candidate brings experience providing project management and leading teams of technical or resource experts on large projects, authoring federal- and state-level environmental clearance documents, and possesses a comprehensive knowledge of and experience obtaining approvals or permits from the various federal, state, or local permitting and regulatory agencies. Superior writing and oral communication skills are a must. The position requires seeking and pursuing project opportunities, assisting in preparing proposals, assisting in preparing or reviewing teaming agreements and reviewing/negotiating contracts, and being comfortable in participating in project interviews. Strong interpersonal and team building skills are essential.

More specific duties will include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of both on-going projects and new projects
  • Negotiating, preparing, and reviewing teaming agreements, contracts, scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Providing client-focused project management
  • Managing multi-disciplinary teams, including internal staff and subconsultants
  • Preparing or leading the preparation of large complex federal and state-level environmental clearance documents and permits or other technical resource documents
  • Completing project invoicing and tracking project and division financial goals
  • Providing project status updates and reviewing quarterly division financial summaries with the Environmental Practice Lead
  • Working with Environmental Practice Lead, Business Development and/or Marketing for new project leads, visiting with clients, preparing proposals, and participating in project interviews

Environmental Services Division Leader – AZ/AVP- Required Skills:

  • BS or BA in environmental sciences, natural resources, planning, or related fields
  • 10+ years of experience managing projects and preparing federal and state-level environmental clearance documents including technical subject matter or resource documents, and/or related project permit applications
  • Experience in Arizona and the Southwestern US for clients/owners such as ADOT, Valley Metro, US Forest Service, BLM, Department of Defense, BOR, USACE, APS, SRP, WAPA, counties, cities, or others
  • Expected travel: Arizona – 10%; other – infrequently
  • Strong project/task management skills – schedule tasks, assign resources, monitor progress, client/agency or discipline communication and coordination, monthly invoicing
  • Lead clients and team through complex agency or regulatory requirements

Geotechnical Engineer – Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Geotechnical Engineers for our Irvine, California office. The role will be responsible for the following duties: planning and supervision of site investigation and laboratory testing programs, interpretation and analysis of data, preparation geotechnical calculations, and producing reports for projects involving structure foundations, pavements, earthwork, slope stability, tunnels and other underground works.

Project Director/Archaeologist – Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Project Director/Archaeologist for our Phoenix, Arizona office. This position is to develop, direct, and complete archaeological projects (survey, monitoring, testing, data recovery) for AZTEC’s Cultural Resource Group.

 

Duties:

  • Perform archaeological research and conduct site file searches at federal, state, tribal, and private repositories.
  • Develop, direct and participate in all types of archaeological investigations.

Rail and Transit Project Manager- Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Rail and Transit Project Managers for our Irvine, California office. This is a great opportunity to join our growing Rail and Transit division and work on high-profile projects including high-speed rail, metro, light rail, streetcar, and other transit projects throughout North America and mainly Toronto. Duties:

Survey Party Chief – Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Survey Party Chiefs for our Phoenix, Arizona office. The role will perform surveys of all types including precise control networks, topographic mapping, aerial targeting, boundary retracement, ALTA Surveys and construction staking. Primarily in the field, performing boundary, topographic and construction surveys. Lead survey crews in day-to-day operations, and report back to the Survey Project Manager or Coordinator on daily activities.

 

Survey Party Chief – Required Skills:

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of survey experience.
  • The ability to perform survey calculations in the field.
  • Knowledge of surveying procedures and plan interpretation.
  • Familiarity with GPS and total station, data collection technology.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to carry a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work out-of-town (on occasion assume 5-10% travel, mostly in state).

Job Description:

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Transportation Project Engineers to work within our Traffic group for our Irvine, CA office. The role will be to design and manage municipal and state traffic engineering projects for streets/highways/freeways. Perform traffic analysis, studies and preliminary engineering, transportation planning, and develop final design plans for traffic signals, ITS, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic handling and construction sequencing. Provide and/or take direction to/from staff. This position performs a full range of professional transportation engineering assignments in a full-functioning capacity. Considerable independent judgment is required to carry out assignments that have significant impact on services or programs. Guidelines may be available, however they may require adaptation or interpretation to determine appropriate courses of action.

Duties:

  • Apply broad understanding of civil engineering and other fields to reach innovative and interdependent solutions
  • Design of TH/MOT, signing & marking, signals, lighting, ITS and all related documentation necessary for construction of plans
  • Conduct traffic analysis, safety audits, traffic impact studies, traffic signal timing, traffic signal design and calculations forming the basis of design recommendations
  • Generate clear and concise technical reports summarizing analysis findings, description of the issues, and recommendations with supporting rationale
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and reports
  • Prepares and checks plans, calculations, cost estimates and recommendations
  • Experience speaking to the public and interacting with local and state agencies is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum California P.E. certification
  • Other state PE certifications is a plus, including California T.E. certification
  • Minimum seven years of experience with at least three years in Southern California
  • Local Southern California experience and clients
  • Caltrans, Orange County and/or Municipal experience
  • Proven knowledge and skills in both Microstation and AutoCAD
  • Preferred candidates will have skills using traffic modeling software: Vissim, Synchro, and AGI32 (lighting). Knowledge of roadway modeling software a plus: Civil 3D and InRoads
  • PTOE preferred but not required
  • Marketing experience is a plus

Utility Locator (Potholing) – Job Description

We are currently seeking resumes from qualified Subsurface Utility Engineering/Utility Locators for our Denver, Colorado office. The tasks will include performing field labor and minor maintenance tasks. Field labor includes performing vacuum excavation and utility designation tasks. These tasks include operation excavation equipment, documenting finds in the field and various office tasks.

Duties:

  • Drive equipment Trucks.
  • Operate Vacuum Excavation equipment and tools.
  • Fills out field forms and daily work logs.
  • Performs minor maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Submitting 811 Dig Alerts Requests.
  • Delineate work areas with white paint.
  • Coordinating traffic control, delivery of backfill materials.
  • Ability to sketch and document field findings.

 

Utility Locator (Potholing) – Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Utility Locator Subsurface Utility Engineering experience.
  • Minimum education is High School or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills, which includes MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Be familiar with electronic utility locating techniques and equipment
  • Be able to pass a drug screening and background check.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-town travel.
  • Ability to lift 95 pounds.
  • Be able to handle certain construction equipment including 95 pound pavement breaker.
  • Ability to walk two miles.
  • Ability to work outside for over six hours at a time.
