For the SR24, a new freeway and multimodal corridor to be constructed on the eastern fringe of the Phoenix metropolitan area, AZTEC has been involved in all phases of the study on teams working for MAG and ADOT. AZTEC produced an Environmental Overview (EO) for the initial MAG study, and an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the ADOT study between the SR202L Santan Freeway and Ironwood Drive. AZTEC was responsible for assisting in the initial and final screening of alternatives, the preparation of technical documents, assisting ADOT with agency outreach and coordination efforts, as well as the preparation of the EA in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The Finding of No Significant Impact has since been signed by the Federal Highway Administration.
SR 24 is a controlled-access highway at the intersection of Loop 202’s southern leg (Santan Freeway) and Hawes Road, extending southeast near the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Transportation improvements are being proposed as part of a design concept report and long-term future planning efforts that consider urban expansion over the next 50 years.
