Environmental – Landscape Architecture

AZTEC worked with City staff in the development of this 1.5-mile segment of a 10-foot-wide multi-use path located along the south side of the Western Canal between the Union Pacific Railroad and Cooper Road. The entire length of the path was located within SRP easements requiring extensive coordination with utility representatives to ensure that proposed developments for the path did not impact the canal or overhead electric maintenance activities. Pedestrian nodes were designed at various locations along the path to provide areas of shade and rest. A large group ramada was also designed and located within McQueen Park adjacent to the new path. Both the pedestrian nodes and large ramada structures were equipped with solar panels to provide power for the lights incorporated into the structures. Electrical conduit and j-boxes were installed for future pathway lighting. Modifications to existing landscape and irrigation were also required to accommodate the new path.
