Ocotillo Road from Higley Road to Recker Road

For this design-build project in Gilbert, Arizona, AZTEC led the final design of several miles of waterlines and pipelines ranging in type and size on Ocotillo Road from Higley Road to Recker Road. The project was done working against an aggressive schedule and budget constraints. To minimize construction costs, AZTEC participated in a workshop that facilitated collaboration with the pipeline vendors and the contractor in order to select the right materials that met the project’s needs and to stay within budget. Schedule accomplishments included advancing portions of the water line design and construction in order to avoid future rework and to make the waterline tie-ins during off-peak season. Using this proactive approach, we were able to identify issues early and address them prior to construction. Because this early construction package avoided the need for rework, there was additional construction cost savings for the Town as well. The project work also required our team to coordinate closely with SRP and communications companies to underground convert nearly two miles of 12kV power in a joint trench.
