
PHOENIX (June 5, 2025) – AZTEC is pleased to announce the recent additions of Mike Cannon, PhD, RPA, as Regional Cultural Resources Lead/Associate Vice President, and Greta Rayle, M.A., RPA, as Architectural History Group Manager/Associate Vice President. These appointments mark a strategic expansion of AZTEC’s cultural and architectural history capabilities across the company.

Greta is a well-recognized expert in architectural history. We look forward to supporting them as they grow our team and enhance services.”
Mike Cannon – Regional Cultural Resources Lead/Associate Vice President
Mike Cannon brings over 30 years of experience in archaeology and cultural resource management to his role as AZTEC’s Regional Cultural Resources Lead. He is overseeing the company-wide growth of AZTEC’s cultural resource services, offering strategic guidance to clients on compliance and resource management. His technical expertise includes zooarchaeology and Quaternary paleontology, with a focus on faunal assemblages from the Paleoindian through Formative periods.
Mike has led projects throughout the western U.S. and Mexico, with work spanning Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Washington and B.A. degrees in Anthropology and English from the University of Utah.

Greta Rayle – Architectural History Group Manager/Associate Vice President
Greta Rayle joins AZTEC as Architectural History Group Manager with over 18 years of experience in architectural history and historical archaeology. She meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards in Architectural History, Archaeology, and History. Greta has managed preservation projects, surveys, and National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations in 17 states and Guam, including work at 11 national parks and monuments.
Her expertise includes NRHP eligibility evaluations, building documentation, and cultural landscape studies, supported by advanced training in architectural recordation and artifact analysis. Greta is an active member of the Historical Archaeology Advisory Committee and contributes to public outreach through the Arizona Preservation Foundation and the Arizona Site Stewards program. She brings a multidisciplinary approach to projects involving complex historical resources and diverse cultural landscapes.
