IRVINE (February 20, 2023) – AZTEC Engineering Group, Inc. (AZTEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of TYPSA Group, welcomes Michael (Mike) Amling as Senior Vice President (SVP) and West Coast Region Environmental Manager. In this new executive and senior leadership role, Mike will develop and grow AZTEC’s environmental practice in the West Coast Region, focusing on expanding existing client opportunities and developing new lines of business. He is based in our Irvine, California office.

Mike has 30 years of environmental planning, compliance and urban design experience and will apply this expertise and client relationships to grow AZTEC’s environmental operations on the West Coast. He has led numerous environmental on-call contracts including the City of Los Angeles, Caltrans, and LA Metro. Mike has a broad base of experience in markets ranging from transportation to ports to the energy sector. Additionally, he has provided quality oversight, including strategic advisory roles, on several high-profile environmental planning projects in California including the Brightline West, California High-Speed Rail and the I-605 Corridor Improvement Project.

Prior to joining AZTEC, Mike grew his career at a leading environmental consulting services firm where he last served as its SVP and Southern California Regional Operations Leader. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1991. He holds professional memberships with the American Planning Association, Association of Environmental Professionals and American Public Works Association – Orange County Chapter.
