AZTEC designed Line Segment 1 of the Valley Metro Central Phoenix/East Valley Light Rail Transit system, which is a 20-mile transit line through a heavily traveled commuter corridor. AZTEC was the only Phoenix-based firm to be selected as a primary line segment designer and was responsible for the final plans, specifications, and estimates for Line Segment 1. The project included significant street widening improvements, relocation of large water, sewer, storm drain, and irrigation facilities, and new signing/striping/lighting and signal improvements.
